The Cymric as it is affectionately known is one of the oldest choirs in Wales having been established in 1911 by Mr John Bowen Davies.
Our present Musical Director is Mrs Mair Jones who is also the M/D of Porthcawl MVC with whom we have developed some close links
The Cymric has seen a gradual increase in choristers over the past couple of years and now has a membership in excess of fifty choristers with a repertoire varying from popular Welsh Hymn tunes, Folk songs, and Ballads, to sturdy male choruses from the world of Opera along with songs from popular stage musicals.
The Choir continues to perform for local, national and indeed International charities and over the past few years has raised significant revenues for Save the Children, Breast Cancer, The Alzheimer’s Society, the local Diabetes Trust, the premature baby unit at Singleton Hospital and many other charities.
The Cymric is a family institution and not a group of individuals and we are ever willing to help a worthy cause.
